Following the actions necessary to strengthen and support preparations for the celebration of the First World Summit of African descent, the Yesterday important meetings were held in the city of Tegucigalpa, including highlights siguinete:

  • Reunión la Ingeniera Ana Treasure, OPS, se mantiene el apoyo para la celebración de la Primera Cumbre Mundial de los Afrodescendientes, se proporcionará la herramienta Elluminatti, tanto para la III Reunión del Comité de Coordinación Internacional como en el desarrollo de la Cumbre Mundial, los días 18, 19, 20 y 21 de agosto de 2011. La herramienta Elluminatti permitirá la participación masiva de personas desde diferentes partes del mundo por medio del Internet y las computadoras. La Oficina Panamericana de la Salud OPS - OMS, también ha ofrecido apoyar mediante otras modalidades, se contampla la firma de un Conevio de Cooperación con la ODECO, en los próximos días.

With great pleasure we inform you that under the framework of the Interinstitutional Agreement of Cooperation between the National Autonomous University of Honduras UNAH and Ethnic Community Development Organization ODECO, with the full consent of its authorities, have agreed as a place SITE OF THE FIRST WORLD SUMMIT OF AFRICAN DESCENT, THE UNIVERSITY OF COASTAL ATLANTIC REGIONAL CURLA. These facilities offer all the logistics required for events of international stature.

Background National Autonomous University of Honduras UNAH
The December 14, 1845 formed "The Society of entrepreneurial genius and good taste" in order to create the university. The first president of the society was the priest José Trinidad Reyes .

Foundation
The March 10 of 1846 Congress granted title Tegucigalpa Literary Academy to society, the President Don Coronado Chávez receive support to this school, then the December 19 of 1847 as President Juan Lindo elevated the academy to Central University in Tegucigalpa. It is taught as civil law, philosophy, literature and theology. The first building University was the convent of San Francisco, then moved to the building adjoining the church of La Merced. [1]
In the government of Dr. Marco Aurelio Soto decreed the creation of the Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy which was established in front of the Plaza Libertad.

Autonomy

The October 15 of 1957 was declared the autonomy of the University after intense and violent student protests in the streets. Congress promised to give 6% of budget Republic to the University to take charge of higher education in the country. Currently thought to a new autonomy to UNAH the same university reform call for many it is viewed favorably because of their importance in positions of power.

Dear friends:
On 21, 22 and 23 of the month and year held several meetings and talks in the capital San Salvador, addressing issues related to the holding of the First Summit World of African descent to be held in the city of La Ceiba, Honduras, from 18 to 21 August 2011, in response to Resolution 64/169 of the United Nations Organization, through which declared 2011 International Year of African descent, also reported on the establishment and operation of the Secretariat of State in the Office of Indigenous and Afro-Honduran.

Graduate School of Leadership Training in Human Rights of African Descent.

On Monday January 31 at 9:00 am will be opened on X Graduate School of Leadership Training of African descent in Human Rights was attended by distinguished personalities, PM Venancio Wise, Atlantis Political Governor, Attorney Juan Jose Arita, Regional Commissioner of Human Rights, Engineer Alfonso Vasquez, Regional Director SERNA and Zulma Valencia, Vice President of ODECO.

This first module that is called Presence of African descent in the Americas , with the participation of 35 leaders and leaders of 16 communities in Honduras, Masca, Bajamar, Tornabe, La Ensenada, Rio Esteban Trujillo, Crystal and Black River, Ciriboya, Limón, Corozal , Sambo Creek, Coxen Hole and La Ceiba, Bluefields Nicaragua, Guatemala Livingston for the first time joining this important process with participants from the communities of Villa de los Santos and Colon in Panama and Puerto Limon, Costa Rica.
The topics presented to participants are:

  • History African Presence in Central African Descent
  • Movement Characteristics of African descent in the Americas with emphasis on Honduras, Guatemala , Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama and Belize.
